The meaning of Shammah in the Bible
(From Easton's Bible Dictionary)

desert.

  • One of the "dukes" of Edom (Genesis 36:13,17).

  • One of the sons of Jesse (I Samuel 16:9). He is also called Shimeah (II Samuel 13:3) and Shimma (I Chronicles 2:13).

  • One of David's three mighty men (II Samuel 23:11,12).

  • One of David's mighties (II Samuel 23:25); called also Shammoth (I Chronicles 11:27) and Shamhuth (27:8).
