The meaning of Meshelemiah in the Bible

me-shel-e-mi'-a (meshelemyah, "Yah repays"): Father of Zechariah, one of the porters of the tabernacle (I Chronicles 9:21; I Chronicles 26:1-2, I Chronicles 26:9). In the latter passage Meshelemiah, with a final "-u", is credited with "sons and brethren, valiant men, 18." He is the "Shelemiah" of I Chronicles 26:14, the "Shallum" of I Chronicles 9:17, I Chronicles 9:19, I Chronicles 9:31, and the "Meshullam" of Nehemiah 12:25.
