The meaning of Ner in the Bible

ner (ner, "lamp"): Father of Abner (I Samuel 14:50 f.; I Samuel 26:5, I Samuel 26:14, etc.); grandfather of Saul (I Chronicles 8:33). Other references, though adding no further information are II Samuel 2:8, II Samuel 2:12; II Samuel 3:23, II Samuel 3:25; 28:37; I Kings 2:5, I Kings 2:32, etc.
