The meaning of Nethaniah in the Bible
(From International Standard Bible Encyclopedia)
neth-a-ni'-a (nethanyahu, "Yah has given"; Nathanias):
(1) An Asaphite musician (I Chronicles 25:2, I Chronicles 25:12).
(2) A Levite who accompanied the princes sent by Jehoshaphat to teach in the cities of Judah (II Chronicles 17:8).
(3) The father of Jehudi (Jeremiah 36:14).
(4) The father of Ishmael, the murderer of Gedaliah (Jeremiah 40:8, Jeremiah 40:14-15; Jeremiah 41:11 f.; II Kings 25:23, II Kings 25:25). Some manuscripts of Septuagint read here Maththanias.
