What the Bible says about Gideon as a Man of Valor
(From Forerunner Commentary)

Judges 6:12

This is ironic because, at the time the angel speaks, Gideon is hiding, protecting himself. He is anything but "a man of valor" at this point. The angel, however, is speaking of what he is to become rather than what he is at the moment.
