Psalms 24:4

2 For He has afounded it upon the seas,
And established it upon the1 waters. 
3 aWho may ascend into the hill of the Lord?
Or who may stand in His holy place? 
4 He who has aclean hands and ba pure heart,
Who has not lifted up his soul to an idol,
Nor csworn deceitfully. 
5 He shall receive blessing from the Lord,
And righteousness from the God of his salvation.
6 This is Jacob, the generation of those who aseek Him,
Who seek Your face. Selah 
7 aLift up your heads, O you gates!
And be lifted up, you everlasting doors!
bAnd the King of glory shall come in.

What Does Psalms 24:4 Mean?



Psalm 24:3-4

These two brief verses broadly cover conduct, motivation, attitude, and prioritizing one's life. To meet these qualifications requires "truth in the inward parts" (Psalm 51:6). A deceitful heart will never meet the standards because it does not operate from a foundation of godly integrity. David says in verse 5 that, humanly, he was shaped in iniquity. God, with our cooperation through faith, is ultimately the Creator of a pure heart in us, but it is a protracted process achieved by imparting a holy nature by His Spirit. This unites us with a holy Christ, with whom we fellowship, washing us in the blood of the Lamb so that with His aid we can mortify the flesh and live toward God, giving Him first priority in everything.

Psalm 24:4

This One may ascend His Holy Hill—may stand in the Holy Place! Did Jesus not do that? Verse 4 describes Christ's purity, His sinlessness, and now His holiness!
