Proverbs 14:17

The constant theme of Proverbs is choose this, not that, as demonstrated by its frequent use of adversative and hostile parallelism. For example,

Resisting temptation is about choosing wisdom over foolishness. So every time we give in to temptation, we are showing ourselves in that area to be foolish.
