Proverbs 16:4

2 All the ways of a man are pure in his own ^aeyes,
But the Lord weighs the spirits.

3 ^aCommit¹ your works to the Lord,
And your thoughts will be established.

4 The ^aLord has made all for Himself,
^bYes, even the wicked for the day of¹ doom.

5 ^aEveryone proud in heart is an abomination to the Lord;
Though they join¹ forces, none will go unpunished.

6 ^aIn mercy and truth
Atonement is provided for iniquity;
And ^bby the fear of the Lord one departs from evil.

7 When a man’s ways please the Lord,
He makes even his enemies to be at peace with him.

This is a basic truth of Christianity that we neither hear nor consider very often because it has become popular for man to glorify himself, thinking he is somehow running the show and far more important than what the Bible reveals. Man is important only because God has made us the focus of His creative efforts, not because of anything inherent within us. We have great potential because of God's workmanship now in progress, but aside from His purposes, we are nothing but animated clay.
