Set he before them (pareqhken). So again in Matthew 13:31. He placed another parable beside (para) the one already given and explained. The same verb (paraqeinai) occurs in Luke 9:16.
Is likened (wmoiwqh). Timeless aorist passive and a common way of introducing these parables of the kingdom where a comparison is drawn (Matthew 18:23; Matthew 22:2; Matthew 25:1). The case of anqrwpw is associative instrumental.
