Mark 9:38-41
Excerpted from: Four Views of Christ (Part 5)Mark puts in what he does, especially in verse 41, about giving a cup of water. That is an act of service. He shows that because it bears on his thrust of showing Christ serving or teaching about serving. In the book of Luke, Luke is saying that God may be working something that is beyond us (of which we are unaware) so do not interfere. That is as far as he goes—a broader, more universal approach.
