Can you think of the incongruity of that? God in the flesh, whom they did not recognize, did not identify, they sought to kill!
In John 7:4, His brothers give Him instructions regarding what they thought that He ought to do with His life - that He should not keep Himself secret.
Those of His own family, who lived with Him day in and day out, did not believe in Him! That is pretty hard to believe, is it not? That somebody living with God would not recognize - did not see - Him as God!
