She turned herself back (estrafh eiv ta opisw). Second aorist passive indicative of strefw in an intransitive and almost reflective sense. On eiv ta opisw see John 6:66; John 18:6.
Standing (estwta). Second perfect active (intransitive) of isthmi. Instinctively Mary felt the presence of some one behind her.
Was (estin). Present active indicative retained in indirect discourse after hdei (knew).
