Acts 20:27
Compare all
25 “And indeed, now I know that you all, among whom I have gone preaching the kingdom of God, will see my face no more.
26 Therefore I testify to you this day that I am ainnocent of the blood of all men.
27 For I have not shunned to declare to you athe whole counsel of God.
28 aTherefore take heed to yourselves and to all the flock, among which the Holy Spirit bhas made you overseers, to shepherd the church1 of God cwhich He purchased dwith His own blood.
29 For I know this, that after my departure asavage wolves will come in among you, not sparing the flock.
30 Also afrom among yourselves men will rise up, speaking1 perverse things, to draw away the disciples after themselves.
31 Therefore watch, and remember that afor three years I did not cease to warn everyone night and day with tears.
32 “So now, brethren, I commend you to God and ato the word of His grace, which is able bto build you up and give you can inheritance among all those who are sanctified.

What Does Acts 20:27 Mean?

Acts 20:27

Paul said this when making his last goodbye to the Ephesian elders on his way to Jerusalem. Eventually, from there, he went to Rome to face the authorities there. He had spent many years in his journeys crisscrossing the area of what is today western Turkey, preaching the gospel to them, as well as to the world. In making this statement, he is saying, in effect, that a disciple is not made merely by preaching the gospel to him as a witness. There is a vast difference between the two. A disciple of Christ is created through preaching, personal study, prayer, meditation, fellowship, and experience in a relationship with the Father, the Son, and the church. Jesus clearly says in Matthew 28:20 that the disciples were to be taught "all things whatsoever I have commanded you."
