Galatians 4:6

4 But ^awhen the fullness of the time had come, God sent forth His Son, ^bborn ^cof a woman, ^dborn under the law,

5 ^ato redeem those who were under the law, ^bthat we might receive the adoption as sons.

6 And because you are sons, God has sent forth ^athe Spirit of His Son into your hearts, crying out,¹ “Abba, Father!”

7 Therefore you are no longer a slave but a son, ^aand if a son, then an heir of God² through Christ.

8 But then, indeed, ^awhen you did not know God, ^byou served those which by nature are not gods.

9 But now ^aafter you have known God, or rather are known by God, ^bhow is it that you turn again to ^cthe weak and beggarly elements, to which you desire again to be in bondage?

10 ^aYou observe days and months and seasons and years.

What Does Galatians 4:6 Mean?

Galatians 4:6

Because we have been adopted, because God has redeemed us from our former father/owner, He gave us a measure of the same Spirit—that vital, animating essence that He and the Son share (John 15:26). The Holy Spirit links our mind to God's (Romans 8:16; I Corinthians 2:10-16) and allows us to begin to see things as He sees them—to discern spiritually.
