Plea for Purity

1 Finally then, brethren, we urge and exhort in the Lord Jesus athat you should abound more and more, bjust as you received from us how you ought to walk and to please God;
2 for you know what commandments we gave you through the Lord Jesus.
3 For this is athe will of God, byour sanctification: cthat you should abstain from sexual immorality;
4 athat each of you should know how to possess his own vessel in sanctification and honor,
5 anot in passion of lust, blike the Gentiles cwho do not know God;

I Thessalonians 4:2-3

They were already sanctified. But here Paul is indicating, again, a process. The sanctification, brethren, intensifies. It is something that is to be magnified in the lives, the understanding, and in the mind of God’s people, because this is where they have their input—their point of cooperation with God—in achieving God’s purpose in reproducing Himself.

Sanctification takes place when we come out of sin. That is what makes it become pure.
