2 Peter 3:3

Knowing this first (touto prwton ginwskontev). Present active participle of ginwskw. See II Peter 1:20 for this identical phrase. Nominative absolute here where accusative ginwskontav would be regular. Peter now takes up the parousia (II Peter 1:16) after having discussed the dunamiv of Christ.

In the last days (ep esxatwn twn hmerwn). "Upon the last of the days." Judges 1:18 has it ep esxatou xronou (upon the last time). In I Peter 1:5 it is en kairw esxatw (in the last time), while I Peter 1:20 has ep esxatou twn xronwn (upon the last of the times). John has usually th esxath hmerai (on the last day, John 6:39 f.). Here esxatwn is a predicate adjective like summuv monv (the top of the mountain).

Mockers with mockery (empaigmonh empaiktai). Note Peter's play on words again, both from empaizw (Matthew 2:16), to trifle with, and neither found elsewhere save empaikthv in Judges 1:18; Isaiah 3:4 (playing like children).
