Leviticus 26:39

37 ^aThey shall stumble over one another, as it were before a sword, when no one pursues;
and ^byou shall have no power to stand before your enemies.

38 You shall ^aperish among the nations, and the land of your enemies shall eat you up.

39 And those of you who are left ^ashall waste away in their iniquity in your enemies’ lands;
also in their ^bfathers’ iniquities, which are with them, they shall waste away.

40 ‘But ^aif they confess their iniquity and the iniquity of their fathers, with their unfaithfulness in which they were unfaithful to Me, and that they also have walked contrary to Me,

41 and that I also have walked contrary to them and have brought them into the land of their enemies;
if their ^auncircumcised hearts are ^bhumbled, and they ^caccept their guilt—

42 then I will ^aremember My covenant with Jacob, and My covenant with Isaac and My covenant with Abraham I will remember;
I will ^bremember the land.

Leviticus 26:21-41

Any word repeated exactly seven times in a passage is the crucial word in that section. Leviticus 26 contains horrifying details of the consequences when God’s covenant with Israel is shattered. In Leviticus 26:21-41, the word repeated seven times is keri. It means casual, random and mindless. These verses indicate that of all the damaging results of relating to God with unthinking casualness, the worst is that He subsequently relates to us in exactly the same way. This is the principle of reciprocity!

Leviticus 26:36-42

The general principle revealed here is a gradual ever-increasing intensity of pressure brought to bear upon God's people in order to bring about the much desired knowledge of God, followed by repentance and reformation of life.

Knowledge, acceptance, doing, but with an ever increasing intensity of pressure God has already deemed as necessary to bring people to this point.
