Leviticus 26:44
Compare all
42 then I will aremember My covenant with Jacob, and My covenant with Isaac and My covenant with Abraham I will remember;
I will bremember the land.
43 aThe land also shall be left empty by them, and will enjoy its sabbaths while it lies desolate without them;
they will accept their guilt, because they bdespised My judgments and because their soul abhorred My statutes.
44 Yet for all that, when they are in the land of their enemies, aI will not cast them away, nor shall I abhor them, to utterly destroy them and break My covenant with them;
for I am the Lord their God.
45 But afor their sake I will remember the covenant of their ancestors, bwhom I brought out of the land of Egypt cin the sight of the nations, that I might be their God:
I am the Lord.’ ”
46 aThese are the statutes and judgments and laws which the Lord made between Himself and the children of Israel bon Mount Sinai by the hand of Moses.

Leviticus 26:44-45

In verse 31, God moves on to cleaning out the land almost completely, scattering its inhabitants and causing them to flee for their lives. It is from this point until verse 39 that we see a correlation with the “Trouble” described in Jeremiah 30, where God’s apostate people are subjugated and ultimately moved into the lands of their enemies, where they face wretched conditions. But notice that this is the final step—the last and most severe act of God when every other warning has failed to cause reform. And in verses 44-45, we find an echo of God’s promise that even though Jacob will be troubled mightily, it will not result in complete destruction of the nation because of God’s faithfulness to His covenant. It says:

Leviticus 26:40-45

Instead of blaming somebody else, this is what God suggests:

So, God's suggestion in times of distress and catastrophe, and disaster is to confess our guilt. Not to point the finger of blame at somebody else, and accuse them of being the cause of this, that, or the other thing; but to confess that we have had a part in it. And then, God will remember us.

He may not provide the way out immediately. If you would notice, as we went through here it seems to say that there will be a lag between our confession and His restoration of us, but if we do confess that we had a part to play in it, He will be certain to remember, and restore us in His time.

Leviticus 26:40-45

Even after hundreds and thousands of years, and the Israelites do all kinds of terrible things against God, He still says, “If they repent, and turn back to Me, I will remember them, and bring them back.” That is the kind of God we have. He is a faithful God.
