Numbers 9:9-12
Excerpted from: Passover (Part Two)Also, in this chapter, appear the instructions regarding the keeping of the second Passover. That is, if a person was defiled because of touching a dead body or were traveling on a journey so that they could not keep the Passover when it rightfully came, God permitted them to keep it one month later. Now, one month later, were they excused from doing all of the other things? All they had to do was kill a lamb? No. Let us look at what it says.
Nothing changed for the keeping of the second Passover. There are no instructions in the Old Testament scriptures that modify the original instructions, and there is nothing in the New Testament modified, except for the symbols. And even as there is no example, or command, in the New Testament regarding the [changing] of the Sabbath, neither is there any example, or command, in the New Testament changing Passover.
In the clearest of terms, the apostles record for us when Jesus kept that last Passover, when He changed the symbols. He did it at the time that God has always commanded it to be done. Regardless of what the other Jews were doing, He did it when God commanded in Exodus 12 and Numbers 9 - at the beginning of the fourteenth.
God's command is very clear. In order to keep the Passover, one must eat of it. And it had to be eaten on the night of the fourteenth. Again, remember John 6, unless you eat of His flesh. . . you have no life in you.
Numbers 9:11-12
Excerpted from: The Second PassoverWhat this basically says is there is only one thing different between the Second Passover and the first Passover and that is the month. Instead of keeping it in Nisan, you keep it in Iyar but it is on the 14th day of the month at twilight. You keep the entire Passover service as you would normally keep it on the first month. Nothing should be left out.
It is very interesting; I will not go into it, but the things that He says that are to be done here: unleavened bread and bitter herbs are to be eaten; they shall leave none of it until morning or break any of its bones. It is very interesting that He would mention those specific things that they should make sure that they do. I will not go into it, but you might want to think about why it was those four specific things that He mentioned, that He says must be done in the Passover. Of course, He is speaking of the Old Covenant Passover here. But it is very interesting to try to look at it from a New Testament standpoint and see why He said that these specific things must be done. So I will leave that to your own study.
The whole ritual should be observed and the only difference should be the month.

Even if a person missed the first Passover (because of being on a journey, or because he was unclean), that person was not excused from leaving anything out of the ceremonies, or rites, connected with Passover. It had to be done exactly the same way as it would have been done when everybody else was taking the Passover (one month before that). Thus, here we have substantiation—one year later. They are not in Egypt any longer. They are out in the wilderness. And, if God intended things only to be done one time that way, then He would have made a change. "Well, we're no longer in Egypt. You don't have to worry about the Death Angel going over. So, we're going to eliminate those other things that are connected with it. All you have to do is kill the lamb, and that's good enough." No! He did not say that! Rather, He made very sure that it was reconfirmed in the minds of the Israelites that nothing was to be left out! Things were to be done in this [second] Passover exactly the same way as it was done in the first Passover.

Excerpted from: Passover (Part 6)Not one change! Boy, did God pass up an opportunity! He let that one slide by! No changes whatsoever even after all the instructions for the sacrifices were given. And there was a priesthood to do it; and there was a tabernacle to do it in; and there was an altar to do it on. And they were "so handy." They were right there. And God did not do anything. He left it the way it was! (You almost begin to think that men somehow "know" better than God does.)
Still no change! The orders from God are to do it the same way as the first one was done. God required very specific sacrifices to be made at the tabernacle (and later, of course, at the temple). There was a sacrifice for every day. There were special sacrifices for the Sabbath, for the new moon, every feast day. And the commands for these things are given in Numbers 28 and 29.
Numbers 9:12
Excerpted from: His Bones Were Not BrokenThe instruction for the Passover lamb was specific. The bones of the Passover lamb were to remain intact. He does not mention the bones in any other sacrifice that were to be broken or be kept. It was never mentioned. But he specifically and carefully mentions the bones of the lamb here. And then we see this again in Numbers chapter 9, verse 12 where Moses is giving instruction on keeping the Passover.
Again, this refers to the Passover lamb, emphasizing the importance of the bones to remain intact, just as Jesus Christ's bones remained intact as redemption and deliverance.
