Job 9:33
Compare all
31 Yet You will plunge me into the pit,
And my own clothes will1 abhor me.
32 “For aHe is not a man, as I am,
That I may answer Him,
And that we should go to court together.
33 aNor is there any mediator between us,
Who may lay his hand on us both.
34 aLet Him take His rod away from me,
And do not let dread of Him terrify me.
35 Then I would speak and not fear Him,
But it is not so with me.

Job 9:33

daysman—"mediator," or "umpire"; the imposition of whose hand expresses power to adjudicate between the persons. There might be one on a level with Job, the one party; but Job knew of none on a level with the Almighty, the other party (I Samuel 2:25). We Christians know of such a Mediator (not, however, in the sense of umpire) on a level with both—the God-man, Christ Jesus (I Timothy 2:5).
