Psalms 113:3
Compare all

The Majesty and Condescension of God

1 Praise1 the Lord!
aPraise, O servants of the Lord,
Praise the name of the Lord!
2 aBlessed be the name of the Lord
From this time forth and forevermore!
3 aFrom the rising of the sun to its going down
The Lord’s name is to be praised.
4 The Lord is ahigh above all nations,
bHis glory above the heavens.
5 aWho is like the Lord our God,
Who dwells on high,
6 aWho humbles Himself to behold
The things that are in the heavens and in the earth?
7 aHe raises the poor out of the dust,
And lifts the bneedy out of the ash heap,
8 That He may aseat him with princes—
With the princes of His people.

Psalms 113:3

From the rising of the sun ... - From the farthest east to the farthest west - the sun in its rising and setting being the remotest object that we see in the horizon.

The Lord' s name is to be praised - This does not mean that it "will" be - though that is true; but that it "ought" to be - that it is worthy of universal praise. All people in the east and in the west - everywhere - "should" praise and adore that name.
