Psalms 130:4
Compare all
2 Lord, hear my voice!
Let Your ears be attentive
To the voice of my supplications.
3 aIf You, Lord, should1 mark iniquities,
O Lord, who could bstand?
4 But there is aforgiveness with You,
That bYou may be feared.
5 aI wait for the Lord, my soul waits,
And bin His word I do hope.
6 aMy soul waits for the Lord
More than those who watch for the morning—
Yes, more than those who watch for the morning.
7 aO Israel, hope in the Lord;
For bwith the Lord there is mercy,
And with Him is abundant redemption.
8 And aHe shall redeem Israel
From all his iniquities.

Psalms 130:4

Pardon produces filial fear and love. Judgment without the hope of pardon creates fear and dislike. The sense of forgiveness, so far from producing licentiousness, produces holiness (Jeremiah 33:9; Ezekiel 16:62-63; I Peter 2:16). "There is forgiveness with thee, not that thou mayest be presumed upon, but feared."
