Proverbs 30:3

The Wisdom of Agur

1 The words of Agur the son of Jakeh, his utterance. This man declared to Ithiel—to Ithiel and Ucal:

2 ^aSurely I am more stupid than any man,
And do not have the understanding of a man.

3 I neither learned wisdom
Nor have ^aknowledge of the Holy One.

4 ^aWho has ascended into heaven, or descended?
^bWho has gathered the wind in His fists?
Who has bound the waters in a garment?
Who has established all the ends of the earth?
What is His name, and what is His Son’s name,
If you know?

5 ^aEvery word of God is¹ pure;
^bHe is a shield to those who put their trust in Him.

6 ^aDo not add to His words,
Lest He rebuke you, and you be found a liar.

Proverbs 30:3

He found, when he looked within, that all his learning was as nothing. He had heard of God only "by the hearing of the ear" Job 42:5, and now he discovered how little that availed.

The holy - The Holy One. Compare Proverbs 9:10.
