Isaiah 62:5
Compare all
3 You shall also be aa crown of glory
In the hand of the Lord,
And a royal diadem
In the hand of your God.
4 aYou shall no longer be termed bForsaken,
Nor shall your land any more be termed cDesolate;
But you shall be called1 Hephzibah, and your land Beulah;
For the Lord delights in you,
And your land shall be married.
5 For as a young man marries a virgin,
So shall your sons marry you;
And as the bridegroom rejoices over the bride,
aSo shall your God rejoice over you.
6 aI have set watchmen on your walls, O Jerusalem;
They shall1 never hold their peace day or night.
You who1 make mention of the Lord, do not keep silent,
7 And give Him no rest till He establishes
And till He makes Jerusalem aa praise in the earth.

Isaiah 62:5

This may surprise many believers. God does not merely tolerate His children; He delights in them. Zephaniah 3:17 says, "He will rejoice over thee with joy. . . He will joy over thee with singing." Imagine that. The Creator sings over His people. His love is joyful. His love is faithful. His love is eternal. The relationship between Christ and His church is repeatedly described as a marriage (Ephesians 5:25-27; Revelation 19:7-9).
