A dry land and a wilderness,
A land where bno one dwells,
Through which no son of man passes.

Yes, bthe wall of Babylon shall fall.
And let everyone deliver1 himself from the fierce anger of the Lord.
And you fear afor the rumor that will be heard in the land
(A rumor will come one year,
And after that, in another year
A rumor will come,
And violence in the land,
Ruler against ruler),
That I will bring judgment on the carved images of Babylon;
Her whole land shall be ashamed,
And all her slain shall fall in her midst.
Shall sing joyously over Babylon;
bFor the plunderers shall come to her from the north,” says the Lord.

Bel - Bel was the principal Babylonian idol. Bring forth - All the vessels of the temple, II Chronicles 36:7, and whatever gifts the Babylonians had presented to him. The wall - And the city of Babylon shall be also ruined.
