Matthew 10:26
Compare all
24 a“A disciple is not above his teacher, nor a servant above his master.
25 It is enough for a disciple that he be like his teacher, and a servant like his master. If athey have called the master of the house1 Beelzebub, how much more will they call those of his household!
26 Therefore do not fear them. aFor there is nothing covered that will not be revealed, and hidden that will not be known.

Jesus Teaches the Fear of God

27 “Whatever I tell you in the dark, aspeak in the light; and what you hear in the ear, preach on the housetops.
28 aAnd do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. But rather bfear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in1 hell.
29 Are not two asparrows sold for a copper coin? And not one of them falls to the ground apart from your Father’s will.
30 aBut the very hairs of your head are all numbered.

Matthew 10:26

Fear them not therefore (mh oun fobhqhte autouv). Repeated in verses Matthew 10:28 and Matthew 10:31 (mh fobeisqe present middle imperative here in contrast with aorist passive subjunctive in the preceding prohibitions). Note also the accusative case with the aorist passive subjunctive, transitive though passive. See same construction in Luke 12:5. In Matthew 10:28 the construction is with apo and the ablative, a translation Hebraism as in Luke 12:4 (Robertson, Grammar of the Greek N.T. in the Light of Historical Research, p. 577).
