Love Your Enemies

27 a“But I say to you who hear: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you,
28 abless those who curse you, and bpray for those who spitefully use you.
29 aTo him who strikes you on the one cheek, offer the other also. bAnd from him who takes away your cloak, do not withhold your tunic either.
30 aGive to everyone who asks of you. And from him who takes away your goods do not ask them back.
31 aAnd just as you want men to do to you, you also do to them likewise.

Articles, Bible studies, and sermons that contain Luke 6:29:

Luke 6:27-31

The Jews despised the Romans because the Romans oppressed them, yet Jesus told them to love their enemies. Such words turned many away from Christ. But Jesus was not talking about affection for enemies. He was talking about an act of the will. You cannot fall into this kind of love. It takes conscious effort. Loving your enemies or loving our enemies means acting in their best interests. And we can pray for them and seek ways to help them.
