Romans 3:10

We are called to become like our righteous God who always has the right thinking, the right attitude, and the right doing, and we must always work hard to forward our progress towards His righteousness, but we have to remember all the while we can never, ever achieve righteousness on our own merit. As we read in Isaiah 64:6, "our righteousness is like filthy rags." Romans 3:10 adds, "There is none righteous, no, not one." And in Psalms 14 and 53, we read, "The Lord looks down from heaven upon all men," and "there is none that does good, no, not one." It is not something we can achieve on our own, but we have to work towards it nonetheless.

Romans 3:9-11

Oh, now, come on! That seems almost too astounding to agree with. But those are God's own words. God does not lie. There is nobody who ever lived, who ever sought after Him. Not even one person out of forty or fifty billion people who ever sought after Him!

There is a logical answer to why—because nobody knows who to look for. Everybody comes up with his own image of God. That is what He speaks of. Nevertheless, everybody's image is wrong.

Romans 3:10-11

That is a powerful statement. There is NONE who seeks after God. Wait a minute! People all over the world are seeking after a god to worship. Yet God says there is none that is seeking after Him. That is because, as we learned in that last sermon, they are not seeking God in the way the Bible instructs.

Romans 3:9-19

Here in Romans 3 is a litany of negatives about good old Homo sapiens. None are righteous, not a one. None does good. Again, not one. All are under the penalty of sin because all have sinned and fall short of God's glory—every person. Every person is guilty before God.
