Romans 6:15
Compare all
13 And do not present your amembers as instruments of unrighteousness to sin, but bpresent yourselves to God as being alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness to God.
14 For asin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under law but under grace.

From Slaves of Sin to Slaves of God

15 What then? Shall we sin abecause we are not under law but under grace? Certainly not!
16 Do you not know that ato whom you present yourselves slaves to obey, you are that one’s slaves whom you obey, whether of sin leading to death, or of obedience leading to righteousness?
17 But God be thanked that though you were slaves of sin, yet you obeyed from the heart athat form of doctrine to which you were1 delivered.
18 And ahaving been set free from sin, you became slaves of righteousness.

Romans 6:15-16

And when you are under grace, that means you are living righteously. Right? That is what Paul is talking about, because you are living the life of Christ.

As we have learned, when the great Master calls us out of sin to this world or calls us out of slavery to this world or slavery to sin, He makes us His slaves and we are slaves then to His way of life, which is a way of righteousness. We are still servants. We are still bond slaves. We have just changed masters, and we are still obligated to live the life of the Master and to serve Him in every way. And that is what he is saying here. Once you have changed teams from Team World, Team Satan, Team Sin, and come to team Jesus Christ and the way of the Kingdom of God, you are expected to live like Christ. He is our Owner and Master.

Romans 6:15-16

In the commandment it says, "You shall have no other gods before Me." Before means "preceding, in front of" rather than "in preference to." These definitions are shown by what we submit to, what we obey.

Obedience is submission. In the context of this verse, if one serves sin then one is sin's slave. Sin is the master. We are not talking about an occasional mistake, an occasional falling short of the mark, or an occasional wandering from the way. We are talking about a sin that is dominating the life, a sin that is lived in as a way of life.

Excerpted from Passover and I Corinthians 10

Romans 6:15-19

The word yielding or submitting indicates that we have choices to make. The liberty that we have is the liberty to make the right choices because before conversion, we were not really free to do that. That's what being free in Christ does. It liberates us to face up to what we are and make the choices for the best reason that we possibly could. It takes strenuous effort to live according to God's way, but we have made ourselves slaves to Him through this calling.
