14 I know and am convinced by the Lord Jesus athat thereis nothing unclean of itself; but to him who considers anything to be unclean, to him itis unclean.
15 Yet if your brother is grieved because of your food, you are no longer walking in love. aDo not destroy with your food the one for whom Christ died.
16aTherefore do not let your good be spoken of as evil;
17afor the kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness and bpeace and joy in the Holy Spirit.
18 For he who serves Christ in1 these things ais acceptable to God and approved by men.
19aTherefore let us pursue the things whichmake for peace and the things by which bone may edify another.
20aDo not destroy the work of God for the sake of food. bAll things indeed are pure, cbut itis evil for the man who eats with1 offense.
21Itis good neither to eat ameat nor drink wine nor doanything by which your brother stumbles1 or is offended or is made weak.
221Do you have faith? Have it to yourself before God. aHappy is he who does not condemn himself in what he approves.
23 But he who doubts is condemned if he eats, because hedoes not eat from faith; for awhatever is not from faith is sin.
Romans 14:16 Let not then your good be evil spoken of. You have greater knowledge than these weak brethren, and know that "nothing is unclean" (Romans 14:14). That is "good". But if you sternly insist on your right to do what the weak regard as sinful, your "good" will be evil spoken of.
