1 Corinthians 1:9
Compare all
7 so that you come short in no gift, eagerly awaiting for the revelation of our Lord Jesus Christ,
8 awho will also confirm you to the end, bthat you may be blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.
9 aGod is faithful, by whom you were called into bthe fellowship of His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.

Sectarianism Is Sin

10 Now I plead with you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, athat you all speak the same thing, and that there be no2 divisions among you, but that you be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment.
11 For it has been declared to me concerning you, my brethren, by those of Chloe’s household, that there are contentions among you.
12 Now I say this, that aeach of you says, “I am of Paul,” or “I am of bApollos,” or “I am of cCephas,” or “I am of Christ.”
13 aIs Christ divided? Was Paul crucified for you? Or were you baptized in the name of Paul?

1 Corinthians 1:9

God is faithful (pistov o qeov). This is the ground of Paul's confidence as he loves to say (I Thessalonians 5:24; I Corinthians 10:13; Romans 8:36; Philippians 1:16). God will do what he has promised.

Through whom (di ou). God is the agent (di) of their call as in Romans 11:36 and also the ground or reason for their call (di on) in Hebrews 2:10.

Into the fellowship (eiv koinwnian). Old word from koinwnov, partner for partnership, participation as here and II Corinthians 13:13 f.; Philippians 2:1; Philippians 3:10. Then it means fellowship or intimacy as in Acts 2:42; Galatians 2:9; II Corinthians 6:14; I John 1:3, I John 1:7. And particularly as shown by contribution as in II Corinthians 8:4; II Corinthians 9:13; Philippians 1:5. It is high fellowship with Christ both here and hereafter.
