Corinthians 6:14

Corinthians 6:14

Glorify God in Body and Spirit

^aAll things are lawful for me, but all things are not¹ helpful. All things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of² any.

^aFoods for the stomach and the stomach for foods, but God will destroy both it and them. Now the body is not for ^bsexual immorality but ^cfor the Lord, ^dand the Lord for the body.

And ^aGod both raised up the Lord and will also raise us up ^bby His power.

Do you not know that ^ayour bodies are members of Christ? Shall I then take the members of Christ and make them members of a harlot? Certainly not!

Or do you not know that he who is joined to a harlot is one body with her? For ^a“the two,” He says, “shall become one flesh.”

^aBut he who is joined to the Lord is one spirit with Him.

Will raise up us (hmav ecegerei). Future active indicative of ecegeirw though the MSS. vary greatly, some having the present and some even the aorist. But the resurrection of the body gives added weight to Paul's argument about the dignity and destiny of the body (quanta dignitas, Bengel) which should not be prostituted to sensuality.
