1 Corinthians 12:28
Compare all
26 And if one member suffers, all the members suffer with it; or if one member is honored, all the members rejoice with it.
27 Now ayou are the body of Christ, and bmembers individually.
28 And aGod has appointed these in the church: first bapostles, second cprophets, third teachers, after that dmiracles, then egifts of healings, fhelps, gadministrations, varieties of tongues.
29 Are all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all teachers? Are all workers of miracles?
30 Do all have gifts of healings? Do all speak with tongues? Do all interpret?
31 But aearnestly desire the best gifts. And yet I show you a more excellent way.

I Corinthians 12:27-31

That more excellent way is the way of love, the way of giving, the way of outgoing concern for others, as the next chapter, chapter 13, explains. Nevertheless, godly love cannot be learned and applied without the knowledge and understanding of the true doctrine of the prophets, Jesus Christ, and the apostles. Because of the unity of the body, the same blood flows through all its parts. This vital power animates the whole.
