10 Now whom you forgive anything, I also forgive. For1 if indeed I have forgiven anything, I have forgiven that one for your sakes in the presence of Christ,
11 lest Satan should take advantage of us; for we are not ignorant of his devices.
Triumph in Christ
12 Furthermore, awhen I came to Troas to preach Christ’s gospel, and ba door was opened to me by the Lord,
13aI had no rest in my spirit, because I did not find Titus my brother; but taking my leave of them, I departed for Macedonia.
14 Now thanks be to God who always leads us in triumph in Christ, and through us1 diffuses the fragrance of His knowledge in every place.
15 For we are to God the fragrance of Christ aamong those who are being saved and bamong those who are perishing.
16aTo the one weare the aroma of death leading to death, and to the other the aroma of life leading to life. And bwho is sufficient for these things?
17 For we are not, as1 so many, apeddling the word of God; but as bof sincerity, but as from God, we speak in the sight of God in Christ.
To Troas (eiv thn Trwada). Luke does not mention this stop at Troas on the way from Ephesus to Macedonia (Acts 20:1 f.), though he does mention two other visits there (Acts 16:8; Acts 20:6).
When a door was opened unto me (qurav moi anewgmenhv). Genitive absolute with second perfect passive participle of anoignumi. Paul used this very metaphor in I Corinthians 16:9. He will use it again in Colossians 4:3. Here was an open door that he could not enter.
