2 Corinthians 3:14

12 Therefore, since we have such hope, ^awe use great boldness of speech—

13 unlike Moses, ^awho put a veil over his face so that the children of Israel could not look steadily at ^bthe end of what was passing away.

14 But ^atheir minds were blinded. For until this day the same veil remains unlifted in the reading of the Old Testament, because the veil is taken away in Christ.

15 But even to this day, when Moses is read, a veil lies on their heart.

16 Nevertheless ^awhen one turns to the Lord, ^bthe veil is taken away.

17 Now ^athe Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is ^bliberty.

18 But we all, with unveiled face, beholding ^aas in a mirror ^bthe glory of the Lord, ^care being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as¹ by the Spirit of the Lord.

But their minds were hardened (alla epwrwqh ta nohmata autwn). Their thoughts (nohmata) literally. Pwrow (first aorist passive indicative here) is late verb from pwrov, hard skin, to cover with thick skin (callus), to petrify. See on Mark 6:52; Mark 8:17.

Of the old covenant (thv palaiav diaqhkhv). The Old Testament. Palaiov (ancient) in contrast to kainov (fresh, verse II Corinthians 3:6). See Matthew 13:52.

The same veil (to auto kalumma). Not that identical veil, but one that has the same effect, that blinds their eyes to the light in Christ. This is the tragedy of modern Judaism.

Unlifted (mh anakaluptomenon). Present passive participle of anakaluptw, old verb, to draw back the veil, to unveil.

Is done away (katargeitai). Same verb as in verses II Corinthians 3:7, II Corinthians 3:11.
