2 Thessalonians 2:6
Compare all
4 who opposes and aexalts himself babove all that is called God or that is worshiped, so that he sits1 as God in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God.
5 Do you not remember that when I was still with you I told you these things?
6 And now you know what is restraining, that he may be revealed in his own time.
7 For athe mystery of lawlessness is already at work; only2 He who now restrains will do so until He is taken out of the way.
8 And then the lawless one will be revealed, awhom the Lord will consume bwith the breath of His mouth and destroy cwith the brightness of His coming.
9 The coming of the lawless one is aaccording to the working of Satan, with all power, bsigns, and lying wonders,
10 and with all unrighteous deception among athose who perish, because they did not receive bthe love of the truth, that they might be saved.
11 And afor this reason God will send them strong delusion, bthat they should believe the lie,

Articles, Bible studies, and sermons that contain 2 Thessalonians 2:6:

II Thessalonians 2:5-9

There are two things that I want us to get out of here at this time. One is that the lawlessness was already working in Paul's day, and that it had the force of the supernatural power of Satan. We are dealing with something that is significant here. The "he who restrains" therefore has to also be of supernatural power in order to restrain. Therefore He who restrains, must be God. When the restraint is lifted, the man of sin will come to much fuller power. In this is the vague implication that since the mystery of iniquity was already working, a man of sin was also on the scene. Not the man of sin, but a man of sin. Can he be associated with the end time false prophet?
