By faith athe walls of Jericho fell down after they were encircled for seven days.
By faith athe harlot Rahab did not perish with those who1 did not believe, when bshe had received the spies with peace.
And what more shall I say? For the time would fail me to tell of aGideon and bBarak and cSamson and dJephthah, also ofeDavid and fSamuel and the prophets:
who through faith subdued kingdoms, worked righteousness, obtained promises, astopped the mouths of lions,
aquenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made strong, became valiant in battle, turned to flight the armies of the aliens.
aWomen received their dead raised to life again. Others were btortured, not accepting deliverance, that they might obtain a better resurrection.
Still others had trial of mockings and scourgings, yes, and aof chains and imprisonment.
aThey were stoned, they were sawn in two,1 were tempted, were slain with the sword. bThey wandered about cin sheepskins and goatskins, being destitute, afflicted, tormented—
of whom the world was not worthy. They wandered in deserts and mountains, ain dens and caves of the earth.
Hebrews 11:32 What shall I say more? All these cases are examples of heroic deeds and holy lives of faith. And the Scriptures are full of them; of such examples as Gedeon. See Judges 6:1-8:35. Barak. See Judges 4:1-5:31. Samson. See Judges 13:1-16:31. Jephthae. See Judges 10:6-12:7 David. See I Samuel 16:1. Samuel. See I Samuel 1:20. The prophets. Many of these were illustrious examples of the power of faith.
