James, ^aa bondservant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ, To the twelve tribes which are scattered abroad: Greetings.

My brethren, ^acount it all joy ^bwhen you fall into various trials,

^aknowing that the testing of your faith produces¹ patience.

But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be¹ perfect and complete, lacking nothing.

^aIf any of you lacks wisdom, ^blet him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and ^cit will be given to him.
