James 1:13
Compare all
11 For no sooner has the sun risen with a burning heat than it withers the grass; its flower falls, and its beautiful appearance perishes. So the rich man also will fade away in his pursuits.

Loving God Under Trials

12 aBlessed is the man who endures temptation; for when he has been approved, he will receive bthe crown of life cwhich the Lord has promised to those who love Him.
13 Let no one say when he is tempted, “I am tempted by God”; for God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does He Himself tempt anyone.
14 But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed.
15 Then, awhen desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, bbrings forth death.
16 Do not be deceived, my beloved brethren.

James 1:13-15

And this is the same meaning as sin brings forth death. Brings forth death in verse 15 is an animal phrase for birth, and it means that sin spawns death. Conquered by desire, man becomes less than a man and sinks to the level of a beast.

A summary of James 1:13-15 reveals that temptation initiates the process leading to sin, which ultimately results in death. In verse 13, it tells us that God does not tempt us. Verse 14 says that we are drawn away by our desires and enticed by Satan and the world. Verse 15 concludes that desire gives birth to sin; therefore, sin brings forth death. So the process is: temptation leads to desire, desire leads to sin, and sin results in death.
