James 5:5

James 5:5 Ye have lived in pleasure on the earth, and been wanton. Have spent your wealth on your own pleasures. Ye have nourished your hearts, as in a day of slaughter. The meaning is not entirely clear. Probably it is an allusion to the beasts which are fatted and feasted for slaughter and food. They were feasting and engaging in pleasure when the awful destruction was near.
