1 Peter 3:12
Compare all
10 For
a“He who would love life
And see good days,
bLet him1 refrain his tongue from evil,
And his lips from speaking deceit.
11 Let him aturn away from evil and do good;
bLet him seek peace and pursue it.
12 For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous,
aAnd His ears are open to their prayers;
But the face of the Lord is against those who do evil.”

Suffering for Right and Wrong

13 aAnd who is he who will harm you if you become followers of what is good?
14 aBut even if you should suffer for righteousness’ sake, you are blessed. b“And do not be afraid of their threats, nor be troubled.”
15 But1 sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and always abe ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the bhope that is in you, with meekness and fear;
16 ahaving a good conscience, that when they defame you as evildoers, those who revile your good conduct in Christ may be ashamed.

1 Peter 3:12

Ground of the promised present and eternal life of blessedness to the meek (I Peter 3:10). The Lord's eyes are ever over them for good.

ears . . . unto their prayers— (I John 5:14-15).

face . . . against—The eyes imply favorable regard; the face of the Lord upon (not as English Version, "against") them that do evil, implies that He narrowly observes them, so as not to let them really and lastingly hurt His people (compare I Peter 3:13).
