2 Peter 2:11
Compare all
9 then athe Lord knows how to deliver the godly out of temptations and to reserve the unjust under punishment for the day of judgment,
10 and especially athose who walk according to the flesh in the lust of uncleanness and despise authority. bThey are presumptuous, self-willed. They are not afraid to speak evil of1 dignitaries,
11 whereas aangels, who are greater in power and might, do not bring a reviling accusation against them before the Lord.

Depravity of False Teachers

12 But these, alike natural brute beasts made to be caught and destroyed, speak evil of the things they do not understand, and will utterly perish in their own corruption,
13 aand will receive the wages of unrighteousness, as those who count it pleasure bto carouse in the daytime. cThey are spots and blemishes, carousing in their own deceptions while dthey feast with you,
14 having eyes full of1 adultery and that cannot cease from sin, enticing unstable souls. aThey have a heart trained in covetous practices, and are accursed children.

2 Peter 2:11

Whereas angels, etc. - This is a difficult verse, but the meaning seems to be this: The holy angels, who are represented as bringing an account of the actions of the fallen angels before the Lord in judgment, simply state the facts without exaggeration, and without permitting any thing of a bitter, reviling, or railing spirit, to enter into their accusations. See Zechariah 3:1, and Jude 1:9; to the former of which St. Peter evidently alludes. But these persons, not only speak of the actions of men which they conceive to be wrong, but do it with untrue colourings, and the greatest malevolence. Michael, the archangel, treated a damned spirit with courtesy; he only said, The Lord rebuke thee, Satan! but these treat the rulers of God' s appointment with disrespect and calumny.

Before the Lord - ͅ is wanting in a number of MSS. and most of the versions.
