14 But I have a few things against you, because you have there those who hold the doctrine of aBalaam, who taught Balak to put a stumbling block before the children of Israel, bto eat things sacrificed to idols, cand to commit sexual immorality.  
15 Thus you also have those who hold the doctrine of the Nicolaitans, which thing I hate.  
16 Repent, or else I will come to you quickly and awill fight against them with the sword of My mouth.  
17 “He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes I will give some of the hidden amanna to eat. And I will give him a white stone, and on the stone ba new name written which no one knows except him who receives it.” ’

Revelation 2:16

Repent therefore (metanohson oun). First aorist (tense of urgency) active imperative of metanoew with the inferential particle oun (as a result of their sin).

I come (erxomai). Futuristic present middle indicative, "I am coming" (imminent), as in Revelation 2:5 with taxu as in Revelation 3:11; Revelation 11:14; Revelation 22:7, Revelation 22:12, Revelation 22:20. As with en taxei (Revelation 1:1), we do not know how soon "quickly" is meant to be understood. But it is a real threat.

Against them (met autwn). This proposition with polemew rather than kata (against) is common in the LXX, but in the N.T. only in Revelation 2:16; Revelation 12:7; Revelation 13:4; Revelation 17:14 and the verb itself nowhere else in N.T. except James 4:2. "An eternal roll of thunder from the throne" (Renan). "The glorified Christ is in this book a Warrior, who fights with the sharp sword of the word" (Swete).
