The meaning of Jedaiah in the Bible
(From Easton's Bible Dictionary)

  • Invoker of Jehovah. The son of Shimri, a chief Simeonite (I Chronicles 4:37).

  • One of those who repaired the walls of Jerusalem after the return from Babylon (Nehemiah 3:10).

  • Knowing Jehovah. The chief of one of the courses of the priests (I Chronicles 24:7).

  • A priest in Jerusalem after the Exile (I Chronicles 9:10).
