Hosea 3:3

Israel Will Return to God

1 Then the Lord said to me, “Go again, love a woman who is loved by a alover and is committing adultery, just like the love of the Lord for the children of Israel, who look to other gods and love the raisin cakes of the pagans.”
2 So I bought her for myself for fifteen shekels of silver, and one and one-half homers of barley.
3 And I said to her, “You shall astay with me many days; you shall not play the harlot, nor shall you have a man—so, too, will I be toward you.”
4 For the children of Israel shall abide many days awithout king or prince, without sacrifice or sacred pillar, without bephod or cteraphim.
5 Afterward the children of Israel shall return and aseek the Lord their God and bDavid their king. They shall fear the Lord and His goodness in the clatter days.

Hosea 3:3

abide for me—separate from intercourse with any other man, and remaining for me who have redeemed thee (compare Deuteronomy 21:13).

so will I also be for thee—remain for thee, not taking any other consort. As Israel should long remain without serving other gods, yet separate from Jehovah; so Jehovah on His part, in this long period of estrangement, would form no marriage covenant with any other people (compare Hosea 3:4). He would not immediately receive her to marriage privileges, but would test her repentance and discipline her by the long probation; still the marriage covenant would hold good, she was to be kept separated for but a time, not divorced (Isaiah 50:1); in God's good time she shall be restored.
